This had to be a sign, right? She was literally here in my building with a box of cupcakes.

“The cupcake fairy!” Kiki exclaimed when she saw Karlie.

“Are you stalking me?” I joked, sauntering over to her, towel draped around my neck. Kiki and I had come to steal snacks for the pool. I had planned a wholesome Saturday with my little sister. Now here was Karlie with a special cupcake delivery.

She couldn’t be mad at me if she showed up at my condo with cupcakes.

“Are those for me?” I murmured, circling a hand around her waist before my mind could catch up to what my body was doing.

I had been doing pretty well since Karlie and I had that hot kiss in my office. I had resisted the urge to contact her. The only thing that passed for communication from her was the cupcake that my secretary placed on my desk like clockwork every morning or had forwarded to my home on the weekends.

But now here was Karlie, looking as delicious as one of her desserts.

You’re going to ruin your chance to buy Joseph’s company if you do this, I warned myself, using every ounce of self-control not to kiss her.

“I’m not stalking you,” Karlie stammered.

“Really?” I said, lowering my voice to a purr. I wanted any excuse to touch her, be near her. I leaned in to whisper in her ear, “I’m sure I could contribute something to the shrine.”

She turned red, and her grandmother whooped.

“That’s my future grandson! Lucky duck,” Gran said to Karlie, “your booty call is going to be right upstairs.”

That comment made Karlie almost drop the box of cupcakes. I took it from her.

“You’re moving in here?”

“Apparently,” she said weakly.

I frowned. Was she not excited at the prospect of being just an elevator ride away? Because I was extremely excited.

You shouldn’t be excited. You should be very concerned, I berated myself as I grabbed Karlie’s bag and showed her and her grandmother to the elevator.

You need to keep from breaking her heart like Marcus did so that Joseph won’t go apeshit when Karlie complains to him. This is a fucking disaster in the making. Act like it.

But Karlie was so soft and fuckable and sweet in the elevator. She was playing a guessing game with my sister on which flavors of cupcakes were in the box.

“White chocolate raspberry better be in there,” I said, needing to say something before I completely lost it and kissed her.

“Wow, this place is beautiful!” Karlie exclaimed when we walked into her new unit. Airy and bright with high ceilings, large windows, and expansive kitchens, the condos at 101 Park Place were nice properties, which was why Greg was so mad when Belle developed the tower.

I set down Karlie’s bag and put the cupcakes on the counter while Kiki ran around showing Karlie her new unit’s cool features.

“The best things about this place,” Kiki said, “are the pools. There are two of them, one inside and one out on the roof deck.
